This will be followed by a gala dinner. Friday’s activities will be hosted at Rockhaven, a beautiful venue nestled amidst vineyards, apple orchards, olive groves and lavender in the Elgin Valley.
- On the Saturday, 8th October, participants will be able to choose from one of three morning and from one of the four lunch events jointly co-hosted by participating producers bringing an exciting finale to the event.
Says coordinator Andrew Gunn: "Elgin is one of the greatest wine growing regions in the world, with the ability to perfectly ripen any grape variety due to a diversity of sites and its long, cool growing season. Chardonnay, specifically, is recognised as performing best in a cool climate and Elgin has demonstrated this. Our sixteen chardonnay producers have joined forces to host what promises to be an exciting inaugural event which will give a rare insight into the beautiful world of this noble grape."
With its high altitude, proximity to the ocean, specific cloud cover and diurnal temperatures, Chardonnay excels in Elgin’s long cool ripening conditions.
The full program together with the wines being tasted will be published when tickets go on sale on Monday the 8th August at: chardonnay.winesofelgin.co.za or firstname.lastname@example.org and follow #ElginCY on Twitter for updates.
Tickets are limited so please book early if you would like to attend.
We look forward to welcoming you to Elgin!
